Is there a better inspiration than being on such a perfect spiral staircase with beautiful light? hahah I have no doubt that architecture and composition inspired me the most.

Directions

Describe how you spoke to your subject(s)

I wanted to convey the idea as if they were lying on the stairs of their house, something very fluid that followed the curve of the stairs and drew attention to them.

What did you say?

Lie down on the stairs and find yourself in a comfortable position, just as if you were at your house enjoying it alone.

Composition

The place is already extraordinary, this staircase is perfect and I tried to fit in the fibonacci rule. The couple made a total difference in the photo to “break” the lines.

The way the EXIF is written out follows the common photographic method (with the inclusion of White Balance at the end). Here it is broken down:

Shutter Speed @ Aperture ISO White Balance.

Light & Weather

The light was totally natural, it came from a very large and diffused window on the side of the stairs. Where I was shooting from, there wasn’t any real light source which played to my advantage as it meant everything else except around the couple was dark. This brings attention to the couple which was my goal.

Editing Workflow

How did you edit this image?

I used my own preset but used some radial filters to draw attention away from the edges of the stairs and focus attention on the light coming from the couple. Warmer color temperature because I like it a lot and a grain to refer to analogue.

Challenges

Getting the couple to fit on the stairs so that it wouldn’t be awkward, as it’s very uncomfortable and strange to lie on stairs hahah. But the light was perfect and the place is beautiful, everything was in favor for it.

Solutions

With a lot of calm and disposition of the couple for our crazy ideas hahaha
