The story behind the image

So, here’s the deal! This fun, beautiful couple from Panama hit me up to shoot their wedding in Punta Mita, Mexico. We totally vibed and everything was a go! The wedding was off the hook, with tons of energy, banging music, and everyone dancing up a storm. It was a blast, so stoked to have been a part of such an epic day!

Composition

Normally, I tend to center my shots, but it varies depending on the situation. This particular shot wasn’t centered, but I adjusted it during post-production to make it more balanced.

I got the shot by laying on the ground. For this particular shot, I realized that I needed to get low to the ground to create the desired effect. To see the fireworks and get them in a way so they looked in proportion. So, I got down on my back and positioned myself in a way that allowed me to frame the shot exactly how I wanted it.

The way the EXIF is written out follows the common photographic method (with the inclusion of White Balance at the end). Here it is broken down:

Shutter Speed @ Aperture ISO White Balance.

Light & Weather

Used natural light coming from the fireworks as I wanted them to be exposed properly. Since there was quite a lot of them, they actually ended up providing enough light to see the couple.

Editing Workflow

How did you edit this image?

Cropping, center, and very little color correction was made to the image. When it comes to these evening shots, sometimes it doesn’t take much tweaking.

My advice to all photographers out there is this: when the moment presents itself, don’t hesitate – trust your instincts and just shoot. Sometimes, the best shots are the ones that are spontaneous and unexpected, and you don’t want to miss out on capturing those once-in-a-lifetime moments. When you’re out there shooting, make sure you’re always alert and ready for anything. Listen to your gut and follow your intuition, and don’t be afraid to take risks and try something new. Remember, you can always edit later, but you can’t go back in time to capture a missed moment. So, take a deep breath, focus, and go for it – you never know what magic you might create when you forget about your fears.
