It’s amazing how photography can connect us with other people who are not from the same city as us. They noticed something different in our photography and decided to take us for the big day of their lives. We always try to do something different, we were excited about the choice of the place, but the weather was not so good, the rain was threatening to fall … It was then that they decided to change all the decoration for a closed space, we were very sad because the open place was perfect for this ceremony.

How did you direct your subject(s)?

I asked the couple to go towards the window and when they arrived, to touch the glass with one hand.

What did you say?

Go towards the window and subtly touch the glass.

How did you compose your image?

Framing is fundamental in this type of scene, first I thought of the ideal position to form the cross design and then I asked the couple to go to the window. I stopped them just before they would intersect with the “cross” that was created by the light & smoke machine so it formed part of the image and story.

How and what did you focus on?

The focus of the sony is amazing, it worked perfectly.

How did you use the light in your image?

I used an LED light just outside of the window so I could have that window light effect. The great thing with an LED is that the light stays on and you can see what the light will do; unlike a Flash which obviously only lights for a split second.

What was the gear & settings you used?

I used a tripod with a LED light outside the house and a smoke machine so I could draw the light.

What challenges did you face?

The challenge was to find the exact composition that i thought worked best with the cross element and the couple.

How did you solve them?

I started by composing first without the couple, and then finally asked them to move into the shot.

Can you share any last thoughts or advice?

For this type of image, a smoke machine and directional light are indispensable. If you have the chance to play with a smoke machine, do it!

We believe that we are made of memories, we are the places we know, the people we live with, the laughs we share… And photography says a lot about that. We embarked on this adventure 3 years ago, and since then, we have fallen even more in love with this universe and have given ourselves entirely to recording stories of unique people who are not afraid to live intensely every second.
